The goal of the Basic Life Support (BLS) Course is to train participants to save lives of victims in cardiac arrest through high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The American Heart Association (AHA) designed the BLS Course to teach healthcare professional how to perform high-quality CPR individually or as part of a team.
The BLS for Healthcare Providers Online course has 2 components: online portion and an instructor-led classroom portion. You must complete the online portion first. You must complete the entire online portion and it includes an exam. IMPORTANT: You must print the certificate of completion at the end of the online portion. You will need to give this to your instructor when you attend the classroom portion. If you do not have your certificate of completion, you will not be able to complete the skills practice and testing of the course.
The classroom portion will require working on your hand and knees, bending, standing and lifting. You will be required to attend a 45 minute practice session prior to the skills testing. Expect the total time for the skills and testing to be one hour and plan accordingly.
